In November last year my best friend and I went to Amsterdam for a little weekend away. It was both of our first times in Amsterdam and we had the best time!

As usual, here are a few of my must-sees in Amsterdam.

 

                                                                         

  SCENERY


This may be down to the fact that most of the Christmas decorations were up, but I loved all of the lights strung across the city because it gave the place a wholesome winter vibe which is my favourite. Amsterdam is different than any city I’ve visited in terms of the layout - we did get lost quite a few times while trying to get home but that was due to other reasons… I think it was the canals running through the streets that gave the city a completely different feeling to anywhere else I had been. It also wasn’t too cold which was surprising for November!

 

    ANNE FRANK TOUR 

After learning about Anne Frank’s story in high school, there was no doubt that we would go on the tour of her house while in Amsterdam. The tour was unsurprisingly emotional as we heard the plight of the Frank family during the holocaust and seen first hand the living conditions they were subjected to. I’m really happy we did this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of booking a trip to Amsterdam.

 

      CLUBS    

I love to experience the clubs in different cities when I go away with friends and Amsterdam didn’t disappoint. Although some clubs are 21 and over, there’s still places to experience the nightlife if you’re 18-20. One thing I loved about the clubs was the lighting. I’m a firm believer that lighting can make or break a club, and the lighting in these clubs definitely enhanced the experience.

I really love city breaks with my friends and plan to go on many more in the future. Amsterdam is somewhere I think everyone should experience at least once so if you’re thinking about it just do it!

  My most recent trip was visiting my friend Amy on her semester abroad in Milan a few weeks ago! The weekend went so fast and I loved every minute! Here's my favourite (and least favourite) not-so hidden gems of Milan!:   DUOMO  I’m generally never that fussed about seeing different tourist attractions as most of them don’t really interest me for more than a minute. In April last year I visited Split in Croatia for the first time with my family for a well needed city break! Here’s a look at my favourite things in Croatia!.   ARCHITECTURE   I really loved Split’s whole aesthetic in comparison to anywhere else I’ve travelled to. It was very clean, but it also just looked very full of life if that makes sense. The buildings were very well kept and there were so many statues and monuments around for us to look at. I’m not sure if this is the same as the rest of Croatia, but I would love to go back and find out!   GAME OF THRONES MUSEUM  At the time, everyone in my family but me had seen Game of Thrones so naturally we had to go to the museum. I wish I had seen the show before visiting the museum instead of after, but it was still a good experience none the less.
