Italy

My most recent trip was visiting my friend Amy on her semester abroad in Milan a few weeks ago! The weekend went so fast and I loved every minute! Here's my favourite (and least favourite) not-so hidden gems of Milan!:

DUOMO

I’m generally never that fussed about seeing different tourist attractions as most of them don’t really interest me for more than a minute. However, stepping up the stairs from the underground station to see the Duomo actually took me by surprise. The sheer size of the building and the figures on each of the spires was breath-taking. We also went to a cute restaurant that served the best pizza ever so I was more than happy to be there - except I spilled it all down my dress and had to walk about like that for the rest of the day. Don't ask how you spill a pizza because I still don't know.

TOURIST TRAPS

Ice cream comparison

As usual with any city filled with tourists, there is a fair share of tourist traps. The ice cream on the left is obviously much nicer to look at, however it was double the price of the ice cream on the right! Don’t get me wrong the left ice cream was still lovely  (although I did spill it all over my dress - common theme)  but when I tell you the ice cream on the right was the best ice cream I think I’ll ever have in my life I’m not lying. Both ice creams were part Stracciatella and part Nutella ice cream – 10/10 recommend that combo.

LAKE COMO

Lake como

The aesthetics in Lake Como were the best I’ve seen so far. Everything from the colours of the buildings to the view of the Lake was just perfect. The train there was about an hour long from Milan and we spent the majority of our last day exploring round about. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the fact that you had to cross the train tracks to get onto the platform. I had my Mission Impossible moment when the train door in front of me didn’t open and I had to leap onto the tracks to get to the other door in time.

I will definitely be back to Italy at some point to explore what else it has to offer. Thanks for reading!
