My most recent trip was visiting my friend Amy on her semester abroad in Milan a few weeks ago! The weekend went so fast and I loved every minute! Here's my favourite (and least favourite) not-so hidden gems of Milan!:   DUOMO  I’m generally never that fussed about seeing different tourist attractions as most of them don’t really interest me for more than a minute. However, stepping up the stairs from the underground station to see the Duomo actually took me by surprise. The sheer size of the building and the figures on each of the spires was breath-taking. We also went to a cute restaurant that served the best pizza ever so I was more than happy to be there - except I spilled it all down my dress and had to walk about like that for the rest of the day. Don't ask how you spill a pizza because I still don't know.   TOURIST TRAPS  As usual with any city filled with tourists, there is a fair share of tourist traps. The ice cream on the left is obviously...

Turkey

Image
I had my first beach holiday in 2 years when I travelled to Turkey in June with my family. Read more to find out the best things about Turkey! RELAX!  This might sound extremely lazy but honestly my favourite thing about this holiday was the part where I got to do absolutely nothing. After a hectic few years this holiday was needed, and I took advantage of every minute that I had nothing on my to-do list. Of course, the weather helped as it enabled me to (try) catch a tan whilst I did one of 3 things: swim, eat, drink.   ALL INCLUSIVE  I’d forgotten how good it was to have access to as much food and drink you could possibly have in the space of a week. This particular hotel had 2 chefs dedicated to just making whatever pasta you could imagine every single night and I was genuinely in my element. However, I’d say the downside of having free reign and/or no self-control would be waking up to a severe hang over every morning - nothing a swim in the sea and a Fant...

Amsterdam

Image
In November last year my best friend and I went to Amsterdam for a little weekend away. It was both of our first times in Amsterdam and we had the best time! As usual, here are a few of my must-sees in Amsterdam.                                                                               SCENERY This may be down to the fact that most of the Christmas decorations were up, but I loved all of the lights strung across the city because it gave the place a wholesome winter vibe which is my favourite. Amsterdam is different than any city I’ve visited in terms of the layout - we did get lost quite a few times while trying to get home but that was ...

Split

Image
In April last year I visited Split in Croatia for the first time with my family for a well needed city break! Here’s a look at my favourite things in Croatia!.   ARCHITECTURE   I really loved Split’s whole aesthetic in comparison to anywhere else I’ve travelled to. It was very clean, but it also just looked very full of life if that makes sense. The buildings were very well kept and there were so many statues and monuments around for us to look at. I’m not sure if this is the same as the rest of Croatia, but I would love to go back and find out!   GAME OF THRONES MUSEUM  At the time, everyone in my family but me had seen Game of Thrones so naturally we had to go to the museum. I wish I had seen the show before visiting the museum instead of after, but it was still a good experience none the less. My least favourite thing about the whole trip was this haunting figure of Peter Dinklage.   QUALITY TIME   As cringe as it sounds, ...

Australia

Image
10 years ago, my family and i embarked on the lengthy journey to Melbourne, Australia to spend Christmas, New Year and most importantly my 9th birthday with my uncle who was working over there at the time. Although I was only 8, Australia is a trip I will never forget for many reasons, some of which I will share with you now! Apologies in advance for the quality of these photos, they were taken on a Samsung in 2013.   Here's my 8 year old guide to Australia: SYDNEY During our stay we drove a painstaking 10 hours to visit Sydney. We obviously had to see the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour but honestly, in typical child fashion, i wasn't all that interested. My mum managed to snap a very rare picture of me smiling while we were on a boat across the harbour. Despite the sightseeing, my favourite part about Sydney was the hotel we stayed in - not because it was beautiful but because every key card had a different song linked to it so when you scanned your card to use t...
